For the longest time, the Valley was the domain of drunken teenagers and wide eyed ravers. Then along came Cloudland, filling the gap in the market for a slightly older crowd looking for something a little more sophisticated. Zuri Bar is the latest addition to that category.
Zuri Bar is a decadent bar and restaurant on Brunswick Street, the sort of place that makes you feel you should be wearing a corset and fishnet stockings. Textured wallpaper, ornate mirrors and plump leather couches are the perfect background for sipping champagne or a single malt with your bros, your girlfriends, or someone special.
The split level club contains several different rooms. The Napoleon Room is the main lounge, with a stage and DJ, lavish lounge seating, and a capacity of up to 200, while Versace, named for the ochre Versace tiles, is an intimate restaurant venue. But if you don't want to sit out in the public areas with the commoners, there are a range of private rooms and nooks available for hire.
Dining options include an a la carte Asian influenced restaurant, and a selection of Asian tapas and combination platters that can be eaten in the lounge. The All You Can Eat Sushi Wednesday, at $19 per person, is a popular weekly event.
If you're in that strange twilight of life where you're tired of drinking and dancing every weekend, but you're not quite ready to stay in with a Grey's Anatomy DVD and Indian take out, Zuri Bar is a good compromise.
My friends and myself came into Zuri Bar & Dining on Saturday night for a work function with canapés and cocktails.
There were live percussionists which gave an exotic vibe and incredible djs that you wont forget soon!
The cocktails we ordered were made to perfection by all the incredibly polite and enthusiastic bartenders, which tasted amazing!
The Japanese canapés were great and definitely worth coming back for.
Overall the vibe, Japanese Cuisine, venue and people were incredible..
Zuri Bar & Dining is one place you don't want to walk past on a Friday and Saturday night!!
This place sounds unique - I have recommended it to my son - a uni student who
is smitten with Japanese culture after visiting the country in January. Is that flamboyant fireplace within the premises? Love it love it !!!!!!!!!
