Zumba is a dance fitness program created by a Colombian dancer and choreographer, Alberto "Beto" Perez, during the 1990s. It involves dance and aerobic elements, set to fun dance music incorporating various cultures (Indian, African, Latin American and more). The choreography includes hip-hop, soca, samba, salsa, merengue, mambo, martial arts, and even some Bollywood and belly dance moves. Squats and lunges are also included in the program.

The classes in Darebin were initiated by fitness instructor Lina Hussein, an inspirational young woman who lost 54kg, from 124kg, through lifestyle changes, including food choices, and exercise. Her hope was to give the same opportunity to other women irrespective of their financial circumstances.

The Zumba classes are now delivered by experienced, lively, and entertaining Zumba instructor, Pat Di Mitrio, and her assistant instructor(s). The Preston City Hall venue is great as it is an expansive space where the women can have a great time dancing, with ample room, and the opportunity to catch up with old and new friends alike. There are props for certain tunes which adds to the entertainment.

A complete workout, combining all elements of fitness – cardio, muscle conditioning, balance and flexibility, boosted energy - you will leave the class feeling fantastic, likely with a big smile on your dial.
