Zoolander is a 2001 American comedy film directed by Ben Stiller, who also stars in the film as the title character, Derek Zoolander. Derek becomes involved in a complex conspiracy involving Mugatu, Matilda, and a mysterious organization known as "The Fashion Industry." He also reconnects with his estranged family, including his father, a coal miner who disapproves of his son's career as a model.



As Derek becomes more involved in the conspiracy, he begins to realize that there is more to life than modelling and the superficial world he has inhabited for so long. With the help of Matilda and Hansel, Derek must foil Mugatu's plan and save the Prime Minister of Malaysia.

The film's humour is absurd and over-the-top, with many of the jokes and gags relying on the ridiculousness of the fashion industry and the stereotypes associated with models. The film also satirizes popular culture, with references to everything from hip-hop music to reality television.

One of the most memorable aspects of the film is the character of Derek Zoolander himself. Played by Ben Stiller, Derek is a caricature of the stereotypical male model. He is incredibly vain and self-absorbed, with a limited understanding of the world around him.
