Want to race a rhino? Sing out, 'Eat my dust' to the cheetahs? On Sunday the 2nd of August you can be among the first visitors of the day to see the wild animals of Monarto Zoo.

Enter Monarto Zoo before it opens to the public and experience the wonder of running or walking though one of the largest open-range zoos in the world. Five hundred animals call the 1500 hectares of Monarto Zoo home.

The Zoo Run is coming to Monarto Zoo for the first time in 2015. Originating at Australia Zoo in 2013, Zoo Run raises money for wildlife conservation with 100% of the Zoo Run earnings going to wildlife conservation. Zoo Run is also being held at Bribie Island and Sea World on the Gold Coast in 2015.

For animal safety, entrants for the Monarto Zoo Run are strictly limited.


• 10km run

• 5km run

• 5km walk

All events are run or walked through the zoo before opening hours. Spectators are welcome and the normal entry fee is reduced for this event.


• 5km run – $45.00* (includes both race registration and zoo entry for the whole day)

• 10km run – $55.00* (includes both race registration and zoo entry for the whole day)

• Adult Spectators – $23.50* per adult (includes zoo entry for the whole day)

• Child Spectators – $15.75* per child (includes zoo entry for the whole day)

* plus booking fees.

• ZOOs SA Members will receive a further $10 off the ticketed price for runners and walkers. This only applies to online registrations. Bring your Annual Pass with you on the day.

Start Times

• Registration will open from 7.00am on the day. You will receive your Arm Band, Bib and freebies!

• The 10km run will leave first commencing in waves from 7.30am.

• Next are the 5km runners and walkers. They will be invited to do a warm up with Adelaide Lazy Runner before heading out onto the track.

• McDonald's Mount Barker has donated 250 Encouragement Awards for kids that cross the finish line as well as a Happy Meal for all of them!

• Brooks Running has donated $225 worth of Vouchers to be won on the day!

• Ego Everyday has donated SunSense Sunscreen for all the Runners, Walkers and volunteers of the ZOO RUN and a basket of goodies for the Best Dressed Team!

• Running Duds has donated a pair of Running Duds (design of your choice) for one lucky runner.

• Adelaide Lazy Runner has donated an individual 1 hour beginner coaching session and the Lazy Runner and Lazy Loser books by Marie Bean.

• Cleland Wildlife Park has donated family day pass and 2 vouchers for animal food valued at $56.00.

• National Parks South Australia has donated a multi park pass and camping for South Australia's national parks, valued at $180.

• SeaLink Kangaroo Island Adelaide Sightseeing has donated 2 passenger fares to Kangaroo Island valued at $196.00.

There are plenty of other things to do at Monarto Zoo after you have finished the Zoo Run including enjoy watching the special breakfast put on for the meerkats.

• The meerkats will also be doing their very own Zoo Run with a maze enrichment for everyone's entertainment

• Roving animals will be on display

• Coffee Van and Cafι open for food and drinks.

This sounds like a unique spin on a traditional run. Seeing all the animals as you run round sounds much more interesting than just a normal run. The registration fee is good value too, especially since it gives you entrance to the zoo for the whole day.
