So many of the activities around Fiji are water based; swimming, scuba diving, snorkelling, kayaking, to name a few.
Zip Fiji offer something different, which will have you zooming over tree tops rather than navigating coral reefs.
Zip Fiji is the only
zip-line in the South Pacific. It's located near Pacific Harbour, a short drive from Suva and a few hours from Nadi. You can make your own way there, or you can get the provided transportation that leaves from major hotels in Suva, Coral Coas, Denarau, and Nadi.
There are 8 zip-lines making up the course. These run up to 150m each, and in the canopy are up to 20m high. You start off with a small trek to get to the first platform, and this is when the nerves can start to kick a bit. Once your safety harness is connected, and you're given the low down on all the safety features, you basically have to step over the edge of the platform.
As soon as you're off it's exhilaration and adrenaline that you feel; the fear quickly turns to fun. Once you've zoomed along the first zip-line, not only will you want to complete the next 7, but then you'll want to do them all again. The tour is full of beautiful scenes through the rainforest, a highlight is passing over the Wainadoi River.
It's refreshing to be able to take your camera along with you, unlike many places that force you to leave it behind so you can spend even more money on their professional shots. It's not particularly safe to be shooting away while you're heading down the zip-line, and there's a high chance of your camera ending up on the rainforest floor, but one of your guides will happily take photos of you zooming along.
As with most things in Fiji, it's the friendly nature of the guides that really make this a great day out. They'll be cracking jokes with you, and performing tricks on the zip-line that can make your stomach flip. There are a great bunch of people working at Zip Fiji, and they're really during your tour.
To take part in the zip-line you must be 5-years or older, and fill a few other criteria that you'll find
listed on their website. You don't need any special skills or strengths, just the willingness to give it a go.
The current all-inclusive price is $225 FJD, but this is subject to change. For more information head to the
