Cultural Diversity Week is not that far away and from the 31st of August until the 6th of September, the Zillmere Festival is set to bring you a celebration of cultural activities.

With an indigenous ceremony, market day, street party, art exhibition, street performances, storytelling, sports, and more.

Opening celebrations include a Sand Circle - Welcome to Country & Official Intercultural Elders Yarning Tent on Sunday 31st August from 10am until 10:45am at Kurbingui Youth Development Association, 425 Zillmere Road and a Zillmere Through the Looking Glass Historical Exhibition from 6pm until 8pm at the Zillmere State School Library. Make sure you register here.

Other activities include a community lunch and cooking class, crafts and storytelling for children and more.

The festival culminates with Zest! on Saturday 6th September at the Zillmere Train Station cul de sac. A fun market day filled with colourful street stalls, multicultural food and fantastic cultural performances. There are free activities during the weekdays and weekends.

Zillmere Festival is presented by MDA, Jabiru Community Youth and Children's Services , Brisbane City Council and the Queensland Government as part of Queensland Cultural Diversity Week 2014.
