Every city in the world has nature around (and in) them, and a lot of it is a good deal wilder than our little old hills.

I am aware of that yes, but those people in other cities don't complain about how boring their cities are. I have lived in many places and traveled extensively thanks to connections in the hotel industry, Perth locals just don't realise how good we've good it.
