A Zesty and tasty dining experience in Scarborough
I have rode past this little cafe many times and kept telling myself that I would go here one day. Well that one day was today. With a name like Zesty, who could resist checking it out. Also I believe that it's good to support our local restaurants.
Zesty Bar and Cafe is located a short walk from Queens Beach in Scarborough on the Redcliffe Peninsula. It is relatively new as it has only been opened since the beginning of 2015.
Breakfast was our chance to eat here and we were greeted by a friendly hostess who gave us the choice to eat inside or outside. We choose a table indoors. It wasn't very busy, and we were attended to quite quickly. The menu looked good and having ordered coffee we waited for our meals to arrive.
My son chose mushrooms on toast ($9.50) with a side of bacon and sausages ($3 each).
My husband did eye off the big breakfast with eggs, bacon, sausage, mushrooms, tomatoes, chutney on ciabatta ($15.50) but went with the smoked salmon instead. Just too good to pass up.
The interior of the cafe is adorned with lovely black and white photos and giant canvases of other pleasant prints, reminding us of places travelled. Also some of the tables had fresh flowers on them, making it quite homely.
Our breakfasts arrived within a short time, and were devoured with hearty appetites. The meals were quite tasty and enjoyed by all. A quick look at their lunch and dinner menu showed promise of tasty dishes which may have to be sampled at another date. Their slowed cooked lamb shanks in red wine - who could resist that on a cool Winter's night!
Being local and close to home for us, it could be a night quite soon to sample the other dishes on the menu.
