Australia's Own Unique and Captivating Zebrastone
It is quite astonishing these days just how many different stones and crystals are becoming popular and being used for commercial and healing purposes. One such stone that took my interest recently was the Zebra Rock. So far in the World, the only known location for this interesting rock is near Kununurra in the East Kimberley region of Western Australia.

The rock comes in a background of varying colours, reddish brown, maroon, cream and chocolate. Geologists state that the Australian Zebra Stone is a sedimentary layered rock believed to be formed approximately 600 million years ago in the Upper Proterozoic era or Pre-Cambrian period. The red stripes throughout the rock resemble the spirit of the Australian outback and are coloured by ferric or iron oxide.

From a healer's perspective, Zebra Stone aids in ability to give the wearer or client a feeling of nurturing, protection and is related to the Zodiac signs of Gemini and Taurus. As a stone of the earth, it connects us to Mother Earth through her grounding energy and is said to be helpful in overcoming stress and anxiety. The stone is also believed to open all chakras helping us to see both sides of a situation, encouraging us to be true to ourself.

Opened 16 months ago in Gallery Walk, Mt Tamborine, Zebrastone Designs is set to open your mind on just how beautiful this amazing rock can be to all who desire it. Director, Jane-Ellen Toro's passion flowed when describing her bohemian inspired collections, which are created by her partner and her in Queensland on the Gold Coast. Their products are inspired by nature, handcrafted from the raw specimens of both Zebra Stone and Primordial rock that come directly from a deposit in the Kimberley. To date, they are constantly learning the necessary skills when cutting, carving and polishing this truly amazing stone. Jane-Ellen and her husband have a background in creativity so combining their skill set seems to be working so far.

If you cannot make it into Jane-Ellen's shop at Mt Tamborine, gorgeous items representing the natural beauty of the Australian outback can be purchased through Zebrastone Designs online website. My leaning towards the array of colours is definitely the pink and brown or white and brown natural formation, however, that may be because they were the only colours I saw first.
