Finding a good place to buy art supplies seemed like a difficult task; that is until I stumbled upon Zart Art in Box Hill North. Just off Middleborough Rd, the shop is located in a semi- industrial area, but is well signed and easy to spot.
Zart Art - the place to buy art supplies
Walking into Zart Art it is clear that it is much more than just an art supply store. There is an art gallery upstairs and many art displays set up in the actual store. There is a special children's area and aisles full of various art and craft supplies. I was impressed with the range available and despite not being very artistic myself; I found lots of inspiration in this store.

The art displays look like they are updated regularly to incorporate different themes and events throughout the year and it is clear that a lot of effort and pride is taken in the visual presentation of the store.

Zart Art has an educational focus and they provide many resources and ideas for teachers and early learning professionals. They sell paintbrushes, paint, paper and many craft accessories in bulk, all of which can be used for class activities at schools or childcare centres.
Need any inspiration?
My son had a great time exploring the children's corner where the owners have set up some wooden blocks, toys and lots of fun things to look at. They have created a whole set of mini art scenes with bunnies depicted in different activities that you can only see by looking through little holes cut out in a large cardboard wall. In one scene the bunnies were ironing, in another they were eating dinner etc. I'm not sure if this is a permanent fixture or was there because Easter is coming up, either way it was fun looking in each hole to see what the bunnies were up to and this kept my son entertained for ages.
Aisles full of colourful stuff
The staff members I spoke to were friendly and available to answer all my questions and help me find exactly what I was looking for. I got that sense that nothing was too much trouble, which is a rare trait in customer service these days.
