Two dollar Tuesday tacos tough to top
If you're cruising the well populated restaurant strip that is Nelson Parade in Williamstown on a Monday or Tuesday night, Zapatas Mexican Restaurant is just about your best value option.

Zapatas soft & hard
$2 a taco, couldn't buy the materials for that

Serving $2 tacos on these nights you could bring the 2.3 kids down and feed them all for under fifty bucks (add another $15 for a beer for Dad and a wine for Mum for 'tis a licensed venue* and verily alcohol doth make your progenies' din more bearable).

The hard shelled tacos are nothing to write home about it must be said - in fact you'd get better value if you popped down to your local IGA (not Coles or Safeway!) and bought a taco kit with some minced beef. The soft taco however was much more impressive, particularly as it was filled with Zapata's delicious chilli con carne.

Mexican being one of the cuisines best suited to beeric assistance, I couldn't resist a sneaky lunch time Coopers.

The beer list doesn't include any of your fancy boutique jobs but a sombrero wearing, moustachioed bandito (which anyone who eats Mexican clearly is*) does not care for fancy beers with fruity themes, therefore enjoy a VB or reach for your six-shooter gringo!
Zapatas Taco & Beer
Tacos and a cheeky sparkling

Zapatas is more than just a taco joint however and if your pockets are deeper than mine (and your arms longer) you will be able to choose from a wide range of traditional and contemporary Mexican cuisine.

You won't be getting earth-shattering, game-changing, toe-curling gastronomy but you will get a decent feed for a reasonable price, particularly if you're there early in the week.

What a tantalising and titillating treatise on tacos!
Tres entertaining too

Taco Bills in Greensborough has $3 tacos on Wednesday nights. Whilst they probably wouldn't satisfy an authentic Mexican family, they're rather good for the rest of us. And they have $5 slushy margaritas as well.
