Walking through Northbridge on a Sunday night, looking for a nice place to get a quickish bite to eat, my three friends and I came across Zapata's Mexican in Northbridge, attracted by the smaller sign under the name stating '$6 Pina Colada with any Main Meal'. Well how could we say no?

Taking a seat outside, we were quickly given our menus and a bottle of water. The four of us took turns inspecting the drinks menu, whilst also looking at what we were going to eat. The restaurant was a bit busy and we did have to flag down a waiter to come take our order. A good thing about dining here is that you can ask for separate billing at the time you place your order to make it easier at the end of the meal.

We ordered a chilli con queso (a cheese dip with corn chips) as a starter to share, followed by a chicken quesadilla (chicken in toasted flat bread), al pastor (diced marinated pork with pineapple and separate corn tortillas), the combinations santiago (beef burrito and a chicken taco) and el dorado (chicken and mushroom burrito and a beef taco) to round out the meals and two margaritas, a traditional pineapple pina colada and a strawberry pina colada to drink. Yup strawberry pina colada.

Our drinks and our dip arrived quickly. The strawberry pina colada was very tasty, like an alcoholic strawberry milkshake, it was very smooth. The other cocktails were also very nice and the cheese dip, well there wasn't enough of that. Unfortunately we did have to send one of our cocktails back as we discovered it had been sent out in a broken glass.

While waiting for our mains to arrive, we ordered a couple more cocktails, named death by chocolate, and saw a great deal of tasty meals being delivered to various tables around us. The second cocktails were quite nice, but needed much more chocolate to be called 'death by chocolate', and our mains arrived a short time after that.

The presentation of the al pastor was nice, different and fresh, and also had me wishing I'd ordered that instead. However my santiago was very nice and filled me up just enough, and they kindly changed my chicken taco to a beef one.

All my dining friends and I enjoyed our meals and our cocktails and would recommend this as a place to go if you're looking for a quickish meal at a good price. Each week you can enjoy $6 nachos on Mondays and Tuesdays (walk ins only), $10 cocktail carafes on Wednesday and $6 pina coladas on Thursdays and Sundays, with main meals.
