Ice cream in winter, you bet
I know what you're thinking, 'Ice cream shop in winter, are you mad?!' Well now, hear me out, because there is something to be said for this brightly coloured little ice cream shop on Main Street, Mornington.
Whilst sitting with my hot cup of coffee in the purple booth, three grandads came in with their young charges in tow to carefully select their delicious frozen treats. It was just after the third lot had chosen, (Rocky Road and Rock Salt Caramel) that I realised what a little gem this place is. The kids coming in didn't care that it was 13°c outside, they were just thrilled to be out and about, hanging out with 'Gramps' and being allowed to choose their own flavours from such a great selection of ice creams.
Now, I was lured in by the promise of hot jam doughnuts initially and it was well worth it, but once inside, the brightness and fun, the many flavours of ice cream and, I think, a little bit of envy had me ordering strawberry ice cream in a waffle cone and that was even more worth it!
I guess it still might seem a little nuts to be eating ice cream on the second day of winter, but I'm going to try to urge you anyway, Yummo is open late on Friday and Saturday, so grab your coat and hat and get down to Mornington. The kids will love it no matter the weather, or you could give it a go for a first date or fun with friends.
