Yum Cha Cuisine has a number of restaurants around South East Queensland, including Carindale, Indooroopilly, Harbour Town, Robina, Springfield and Sunshine Plaza. We decided to try the Garden City one for lunch.
Yum Cha Cuisine was located on the second floor and we had a great spot on the balcony. It was super busy inside but the service was always first class and attentive. The décor is modern with bold Asian motifs and black and red colour scheme throughout. There is an amazing wood cutting on the wall next to some huge live fish tanks. The chairs are big and comfy. We were reassured to see lots of Asian customers, which is a sign of good quality and authentic yum cha.
As soon as we sat down we were being offered tempting dishes on trolleys and trays. I have to recommend not doing what we did and ordering willy-nilly. I would encourage you to take your time and have a look through the menu to see what you really want to order.
My dining partner ordered chicken feet with black bean sauce, which contains lots of small edible bones but is delicious. I regretted selecting the deep fried calamari, as this was tough and looked like octopus tentacles. We added a special fried rice which was packed with flavour and different ingredients. I enjoyed my crispy skinned barbeque roast pork and the steamed beef rice noodle rolls.
To keep track of what you order, the waitress keeps a tally on a piece of a paper. The price of a dish depends on the size, so small $4.20, medium $5.30, and large $6.30 with special dishes $7.30 and others $8.30.
Yum Cha Cuisine is a great experience but take your time and order what you want off the menu, then supplement with some of the tempting treats presented to your table.
