One of the biggest challenges I have is finding a vegetarian or vegan restaurant that my carnivorous friends will also enjoy. But my troubles are now over! Yulli's restaurant in Surry Hills is a great example of having a high class restaurant experience (complete with live music) that everyone can enjoy.
Yulli's selling point is that it caters to a number of dietary requirements, and has a number of specialty
menus: the regular a la carte menu, a special gluten free menu and the banquet menu. As someone who is a bit of a picky eater, and has numerous friends with dietary requirements it was such a relief to have a menu where everyone had a wide variety of meals to choose from.
We decided on choosing the banquet menu because we were unable to decide which individual meals we wanted (it all looked too good). The banquet menu is available for groups of 2 or more at $44 per person (or $38 per head without dessert). Now as much as I love dessert, and I mean
love dessert, and as great as the desserts looked, I was genuinely so glad I didn't get dessert because there was
so much food. There was so much everyone on the table struggled to finish!
My friends were so excited to eat this menu item they gobbled up half the dish before I was able to take a photo!

Korean fried broccolini, edamame and coconut moneybags and steamed leek and ginger dumplings

San choy bow with tofu, fresh herbs, bamboo, peanuts, fried shallots and bean sprouts

Crispy tofu with green papaya, Asian herbs and toasted peanut salad

BBQ king brown mushrooms with chilli jam and broccolini, smoked eggplant, and mixed leaf salad with shredded radish, cherry tomatoes and sesame dressing

Smoked eggplant and sweet pepper Romesco sauce topped with pomegranate and chervil salad with puffed wild rice
You can make
bookings online, which I would recommend if you're planning on attending around regular dinner hours (6pm-8pm), but something that is really dandy especially if you live in the area, is that Yulli's is open until late so it's great if you've got late night cravings for something delicious. My friends and I actually arrived around 9pm, and sadly we missed the live music but were very happy to hear the full menu was still available.
My thoughts on this restaurant is that I would definitely recommend Yulli's to all my vegan, vegetarian and gluten-free friends because it is such a nice feeling to be able to order anything off the menu without having to worry about dietary requirements and still be confident that everything tastes great.
I would also recommend going as a group so that you can make a team effort to finish all the food and save space for a delicious dessert at the end!
