I am a lover of Salvador Dali and any surrealism art interests me! This art exhibition looks extremely interesting and it is described as "folkloric surrealism".'' is an upcoming solo exhibition, open from 12th to 22nd December 2018. The venue is the m2Gallery 4/450 Elizabeth Street, Surry Hills, Sydney. The gallery is open from 11.00 am to 7.00 pm daily.
'Earthly Delights' is a collection of paintings inspired by Yulia's recent travels around Spain and France. Yulia is a highly talented artist and has some fascinating paintings available for sale.
Yulia Pustoshkina is a third generation artist born in Russia, who immigrated to Australia in 2001. Yulia studied at the Art School of Petrozavodsk and her painting technique is influenced by famous traditional Russian art schools, including Palekh and Loubok. She is also influenced by:
The Renaissance
Decorative painting
Hieronymus Bosch
Leonardo da Vinci
Sandro Botticelli
Greg Craola Simkins
Yulia was educated at Art School, Petrozavodsk, Russia and State Pedagogical University, Petrozavodsk, Russia. She has a Bachelor degree with a major in English and German languages. She also studied at QANTM College, Sydney and has a Bachelor in Multimedia and Graphic Design.
In her earlier work, Yulia painted miniature pictures which were traditionally applied on wood plaques. These depicted mostly Russian folkloric daily scenes of both harvesting and fishing. Once Yulia immigrated to Australia, she discovered oil paints and went on to master her painting technique on large canvases instead of wood.
Each of her paintings tells a story. Yulia draws her ideas and inspiration from her past, folklore, traditions, fairytales and the world in general. She always displays a real purpose in everything that her painted characters do. Yulia now resides in Australia and paints her fascinating characters with the outstanding flair of her Russian heritage.
She will also be having another exhibition, 'Face Me, I'll Talk', which will also be a solo exhibition. This will be on 29th January to 10th February 2019 with the opening night on Saturday 2nd February, from 4.00 pm until 6.00 pm. It will be held at GalleryOne88, 188 Katoomba Street, Katoomba.
You can see some of her other work, which is on sale at this
website. Some of her paintings are also available as limited editions and would make wonderful Christmas presents!
