Japanese Food
Hot Food in the City! Hot Food in the city tonight!

YoYoGi's has been a favourite restaurant of mine for years. It is located on Swanston Street, halfway down between Bourke Street Mall and The State Library/Melbourne Central. It is kind of a cross between a Japanese sit-down restaurant and a sushi take-away bar. It is usually very busy and the reason is that the meals are delicious, filling and cheap. A couple can get two main meals and two drinks for about $30.

What they have available:

  • Take away packs of sushi available at the front counter.

  • 3 meat (chicken, beef and pork) rice dishes, Such as Tori Teriyaki Don.

  • Noodle dishes, such as Ramen and Yaki Soba. However, for first time Ramen-eaters I would recommend grabbing a plastic soup spoon from the main entrance and eating the broth with noodles instead of leaving the broth until last.

  • The usual variety of soft drinks, as well as ice-cream drinks and iced tea.

  • My usual choice is A9, the Tori Teriyaki Don, which comes with a small miso soup.

It will leave you feeling full for the rest of day

The only problem with YoYoGi's is that it's a small restaurant and that the lower floor can be cramped and the tables are ideal for one or two on a busy day. However, the upper floor has more room for larger groups.
