The Yarra Valley council have been working on a beautiful summer holiday program for ages 12 17 and included in the program is a Manga Workshop.
Wikipedia defines "Manga" as a Japanese word for comic or cartoon/animation. Early Japanese manga animation was heavily influenced by American cartoons of the 1950's such as Betty Boop with her big wide eyes. However, the art of manga has been dated as far back as the twelfth century.
In Japan, every week massive amounts of Manga comics are produced and consumed by millions of Japanese of all ages and gender. With its unique drawing style and genres ranging from romance, action, horror, science fiction, fantasy and more you are sure to find something appealing.
The workshop will be held on Monday the 15th of January 2018. The cost is $5, and all materials are provided. It will be held at Japara Community Centre located at 54-58 Durham Road, Kilsyth VIC 3137 from 11 am 1 pm. Transport pick up points are available, and details can be found here.
The session will cover everything from simple shapes, through to more detailed drawing techniques.
Bookings are essential and can be made through the Yarra Valley Council website here.
