According to Wikipedia Priscilla Maria Veronica White OBE (1943 – 2015), known by her stage name Cilla Black, was an English singer, television presenter, actress, and author. But for us of a certain age she was very much more.

She was the voice of a generation in more ways than just her singing. Her warmth, her charm, her accent all made Cilla into the icon of an age. Since her death in 2015 her records have sold into the hundreds of thousands and she has never been so popular.

Her broad Liverpool accent, which she retained all her life, gave her singing voice a uniqueness and individuality hard to reproduce. But acclaimed singer Danielle O'Malley creates a truly remarkable evocation of the pop idol.

Danielle. working with musical director Mark Jones and a lineup of voice, piano, bass, and percussion, has created You're My World, The Cilla Black Story. This is not simply mimicry, but a rich homage to Cilla Black's career and a wonderful biographical cabaret.

If you'd like to see the showreel for this production (and I think you should) there is a YouTube clip here .

You're My World is part of Ace's Cabaret Downstairs at the Maj in the Fringe World and runs from 7th to the 11th February at 7:30pm (Matinée at 4:30pm on the 11th February).

Tickets cost from $31 and are available from the Fringe World website here .
