We bet most of you locals have never heard of this place before! Or have you? This lovely old fashioned theatre is situated in the heart of Guilford, a fairly short 15 minute drive from Perth CBD.

Everything about it looks special, starting from the country atmosphere, and finishing with the building itself. It may look quite different by day, but under the stars, coupled with the special lightning, it certainly reminded us of a secret scene from the Harry Potter movie.

In fact, it turned out to be a fairly small local theatre. Friendly and warm foyer featured a rather large table with children's colouring pages and crayons. Whilst the kids were occupied with their drawings, the adults had an opportunity to socialise and help themselves to a glass of cherrie or port (on the house!) to awaken their artistic selves after a long day at work. The stage, as well as the audience area, were quite cosy, with only a few rows of seats, making you feel a part of the stage performance (or, maybe, at least a decoration).

The show we went to see was called "You're A Good Man Charlie Brown" named, of course, after a pretty famous cartoon featuring Snoopy the dog, Charlie Brown and their friends. Whilst the show was extremely colourful, and childlike, between the lines the audience was treated to some decent humour and pretty witty jokes fit for any grown-ups.

At the interval the guests were treated to hot tea and coffee with biscuits (again, on the house! I'm beginning to wonder how they make a buck if all of the treats here are free). The producer of the show also mingled among the audience answering questions and having a small talk with the visitors and their kids. There were 6 actors on stage in total, all young adults (as young as a talented year 12 student (!) as Snoopy). A lot can be said about the show alone which was, in short, fantastic. After the show the kids had an opportunity to jump on the stage and take some pictures with the actors in their performing attire. I still cannot believe that such theatre-goers like our family have only discovered this place now!

We would absolutely love to go back and have another experience at this marvellously friendly and homelike place (not only for the free cherrie, I promise).

My co-author, Elizaveta, is 7 years old, and this is what she said after visiting this place:"The building was beautiful because it looked like the house from the olden days and to me it was special. Inside it was cosy and warm. And I liked that there were lots of biscuits to munch on and colouring pages. The theatre itself was very small and it made me feel that the actors were signing especially for me. Quite obviously, it made me feel happy!"
