Casual and central Thai that's delicious and delightful
Your Thai Rice and Noodle Restaurant on Swanston Street is a casual Thai restaurant a short stroll from Flinders Street station.
We visited just before Christmas time on a Friday night, it was about half full, we were shown to the table politely and quickly. The staff were friendly when we asked what our neighbours had too. Our meals didn't take long to be ready and brought out, but seemed fresh still.
Along with the usual Thai curries, pad Thai and spring rolls, they also had less common Thai food offerings including papaya salads, Thai style chicken wings, and traditional looking flounder omelette. My dining companion and I decided to go for the less risky Thai Green Curry Rice with beef and Pad Thai, respectively.
We were both happy with the actual meal, certainly, the portion sizes and prices were very good. I would have liked some broccoli as well with a bit less meat, though my curry did have carrot, baby corn, and onion. I was most impressed with the presentation of the meals and drinks. The menu showed the rice cutely presented in a heart shape, and triangular bowls. The actual meals didn't disappoint, with my rice in a heart shape and the Pad Thai in a triangular bowl, with chilli flakes, peanuts, and anchovies in one corner.
I got a cinnamon and lemon ice tea which was very refreshing with pieces of the bark spice and a wedge of lemon. My dining companion was very pleased with her rich but smooth iced chocolate with cream.
We also got a serve of 6 chicken spring rolls, though they were good with the sweet chilli sauce, we actually had plenty of food in our meals and probably didn't need them anyway. Your Thai was modern, quick and clean and they did accept EFTPOS per table too.
