My partner and I were feeling sociably adventurous on the weekend, and managed to stumble upon a hip little bar and restaurant along Brisbane Road ingeniously called ' Your Place '. It was the buzz of the atmosphere we could feel and hear from the street that pulled us in closer and up the steps.

We walked through the hive of activity and found some bar seats to take in the views and look over the menu. From the décor, which consisted of an interior garden room with brick walls, vines growing down the walls, faux grass and a white picket fence, collections of hanging lamps over tables constructed from pallets and ply boards and a rich bar that emanated sounds of people laughing and talking amidst lounge music, I felt as if id stumbled into one of those rare spots found dabbled throughout cities.

Except of course, we were lucky enough to be a short distance from the ocean, and realising this, I wonder if perhaps 'Your Place' hasn't just created a winning recipe for themselves.

After perusing the menu, of which I was happy to see they also serve breakfast and lunch, we moved to a quieter spot nearer the street and I went and ordered our meals.

The bar was full of life, with a huge party of people taking interesting looking shots and bar staff happily playing photographers. The place was packed but I wasn't overlooked and easily ordered our meals and purchased drinks on the same account.

The bar stocks only premium wines and spirits so I would say if I were more than a merlot drinker it would certainly be of intrigue to taste my way through the range. I could definitely see myself and a bunch of friends casually working our way through a breakfast or lunch together here before strolling down to the esplanade.

My boyfriend and I happily sipped on our drinks and waited for our meals and I analysed the place some more. I'm always interested in exactly what it takes to create a place you feel welcome. 'Your Place', I believe has done it. Situated in a cosy spot underneath La Balsa Hotel, it's classy, warm and enticing.

The owners are a young couple and they certainly have created their vision: the staff were exceptionally friendly and professional and the food was fantastic. I ordered the vegetarian Greek couscous as I tend to be drawn to interesting and healthy combinations and I wasn't let down.

The winner however, was the pasta that my partner ordered, prawn and chorizo linguini. It was so delicious, it has officially become the only pasta dish that I would forgo any concerns of carbs or other nonsense us ladies tell ourselves when eating out and order without hesitation.

For the two mains and our two premium drinks we paid just under $60, and it was well worth it. The food is very reasonably priced, presented well and tastes even better.

I can see 'Your Place' becoming a beautiful mixing pot of different ages who all share a common interest in good food, drink and conversation. I do invite you to try it for yourselves as I will definitely be back to sample more of that menu.

Buon Appetite!
