Grab a beer with Larry, Macca & SallyThe road into Your Mates looks pretty grim. Deep within a Warana industrial estate, it looks as though lunch might be a workshop-style affair. Then the image of the magnificently bearded Larry comes into view. He's expertly graffitied on the front of the brewhouse, luring craft beer lovers into his hopsy-haven.



Upon entry, grim is quickly replaced by homely. Your Mates is essentially a bloody big shed that's had a gloriously effective make-over. Like the name of the brewery suggests, it's like stepping into a mate's man-cave or crashing an acreage-set twenty-first birthday party.

Strings of LED lights criss-cross the less than structural timber rafters adding both light and style. A children's playground in one corner, a pool table area and a dog-friendly alfresco section all demonstrate the inclusive nature of the place.



Approaching the brick-fronted, long timber bar, it's easy to get excited about the beer offerings scribbled on the menu board.

Three stand out: Sally, Larry and Macca. Obviously named with Your Mates theme in mind, they all appeared in the most recent edition of GABS Hottest 100 beers. IPA Sally at #44 , Aussie Lager Macca at #62 and the podium award-winning Pale Ale Larry at #3 .



Costing no more than $10 for a schooner and $18 for a tasting paddle, prices are reasonable and specials are available daily. For example, on Tuesday, $18 will get you a burger, chips and pot of beer.



The Brewhouse is open Tuesday to Sunday from 11:00 am. Closing hours differ by day. On-street parking can be a bit tricky in business hours but who wants to drive to a brewery anyway? Take-away traveller beers are available and are almost irresistible.



Reflected by Larry's impressive third-placing in GABS publicly-elected craft beer awards, it's very much a community hub. Spending time here really does induce a sense of relaxation and familiarity, making . a place worth supporting.
