I'm dreaming of a white Christmas...in July.

Yes, it's that time of the year again when some of us actually celebrate Christmas again! Because celebrating it in December isn't enough for us diehard Christmas lovers. And because we want to celebrate a white kind of Christmas, too. You know, during the cold bleak Canberra winter season when all of the winter-themed Christmas decorations such as Santa Claus, reindeer, sleighs, snowmen, fake snow and little Christmas villages make much better sense for us down under folk in July (our winter) rather than during our sunburnt sizzling hot December (our summer). And yes, when all of those Christmas songs of winter wonderlands and sleigh rides and dashing through the snow in a one-horse open sleigh and decking the halls with boughs of holly make much more sense as well. (Well, maybe not so much the dashing through the snow in a one-horse open sleigh bit because how many of us even do that in winter? But you get my drift!).

Now, we all know that Christmas doesn't really feel like Christmas without all the trimmings such as a tree or pudding or mince pies or Santa Claus. However, you really can't celebrate Christmas without the soundtrack of Christmas songs and carols running throughout the season, either. Because what's any celebration or holiday without music? So if you're celebrating Christmas in July, here are ten winter-themed Christmas songs/carols that'll put you in that festive mood.

1. The Christmas Song."Chestnuts roasting on an open fire, Jack Frost nipping at your nose..." Written in 1945 by American songwriters and musicians Robert Wells and Mel Torme, and in my opinion, sung the best by the great Nat King Cole.

2. Winter Wonderland.First written in 1934, 'Winter Wonderland' has since been recorded by more than 200 artists including Bing Crosby, Frank Sinatra, Tony Bennett, Michael Buble, Selena Gomez and the Eurythmics. To me, Christmas isn't officially Christmas without hearing this song, even during our sizzling hot festive celebration. But now that it's winter in Canberra, we can really appreciate and understand its lyrics.

3. Let it snow! Let it snow! Let it snow!Another very wintery song, written (ironically enough) by Sammy Kahn and Jule Styne during a Californian heatwave in 1945. The Frank Sinatra version is my favourite.

4. Jingle Bells."Dashing through the snow in a one horse open sleigh..." Next to the song We wish you a merry Christmas, 'Jingle Bells' has got to be the anthem of the Christmas season. And with its wintery theme, it's the perfect song to sing during Christmas in July rather than Christmas in December.

5. Sleigh Ride."Just hear those sleigh bells jing-a-ling-ring-ting-a-ding-a-ling-ding, ring-a-ling-a-ling-a-ding-dong-ding...Come on it's lovely weather for a sleigh ride together with you." Thanks, Ella Fitzgerald!

6. White Christmas. The most recorded Christmas song ever. And the version by Bing Crosby is still the best-selling single of all time.

7. Deck the Halls. An old and traditional Christmas favourite, with the melody dating back to the sixteenth century.

8. Silver Bells.Another classic wintery Christmas hit. I can hear Bing Crosby singing this again and again and again.

9. It's beginning to look a lot like Christmas. What else can I say but Michael Buble, Michael Buble and Michael Buble?

And finally,

10. In the Bleak Midwinter. A beautiful Christmas carol based on the 1872 poem by Christina Rosetti. I love the version by the Choir of King's College, Cambridge.

Have a merry Christmas in July, everyone!

%%It's the most wonderful time of the year
With the kids jingle belling
And everyone telling you be of good cheer
It's the most wonderful time of the year"%%

From the song 'It's a most wonderful time of the year' by Eddie Pola and George Wyle
