Tickling the ivories in the Hinterland
Lucas Parklands has always had a strong commitment to supporting the development and promotion of talented young musicians. The annual Young Musicians Festival is no exception, providing a unique opportunity for outstanding students and emerging professional musicians to gain performance experience in a celebration of music over a weekend with solo, duet and ensemble concerts. This year they will feature music from the great composers Chopin, Haydn, Beethoven, Schubert, Brahms, Dvorak, Saint Saens, Bruch, Bizet, and Shostakovich.

A dynamic group of eight talented musicians will perform four concerts over three days in solo, duet, and ensemble performances, including: Chloe Trevor - violin (Texas USA), Dorel Golan - piano (Israel), Theresa Yu - piano (Royal College of Music London), Emma Zhuang - violin (Sydney), Peter De Jager - piano (Melbourne), Georgie Ostenfeld - cello (Brisbane), Sam Lucas - cello (Montville/Waikato), and Andrew Hathway - viola (Conservatorium of Music Brisbane).

The festival will be held during 3-5th July in the specially constructed concert hall with seating for 150 people at Lucas Parklands, 126 Narrows Rd, Montville QLD 4560. It is a private residence surrounded by 12 hectares of subtropical rainforest, featuring a state-of-the-art concert space housing a "Flame Mahogany" Steinway and attracts world class musicians to the Sunshine Coast hinterland to perform several times a year.

Owners, Ian and Lee Lucas, began construction on the concert hall on their property in 2009 and have since hosted dozens of concerts. Their goal is to promote classical music and young Australian musicians. Their two children, Sam and Meg, are also accomplished musicians.

If you live on the Sunshine Coast and you or your children are musicians or simply enjoy classical music, you will appreciate the opportunity to experience a live concert without having to travel to Brisbane. With an amazing array of talent in an amazing acoustic space, the Young Musicians Festival in Montville is definitely an event not to be missed.

Your Comment
Alice's writing style is engaging and described the Young Musicians Festival beautifully. Who would not want to experience classical works of the great composers performed by eight dynamic musicians in a magical rain forest setting? Our young artists thank you
