Mental ill health can affect anyone at anytime
Have you ever had friends with mental issues or have you had close ones that have died because of mental issues? I have and it has made me very much aware of the issues in our society that can be overlooked or passed under the carpet by people too frightened to get involved or with an understanding of the complexity of a person's suffering.

Never too old to learn

There's a misconception that you are born with a mental illness. This is not always the case. Mental illnesses can of course be genetic; however can also lay dormant in your body until a trauma occurs and then surfaces. In other cases an accident of falling off a horse, having a car accident, a fight at the local hotel, all of which can cause brain damage and subsequently develop into a mental illness. Some other forms of mental illnesses include anxiety, depression, mood, eating, psychotic, addiction, personality, obsessive-compulsive etc. How many people do you know in your own circle of friends that have some time in their lives experienced depression? How they deal with depression constitutes how their illness develops or is controlled. As cases increase in today's society, no one is exempt from experiencing or coming into contact with someone who has had troubles in their life. Awareness, education and acceptance are the keys we can learn to overcome hurdles and bring balance back into many people's lives.
