As a vegetarian, visiting a restaurant can be a bit of an... adventure. At some restaurants, I'm pleasantly surprised and at others, I'm left choosing between chips or wedges.

When we recently visited the in Yorke Town, I was impressed with the range of not only vegetarian and vegan food but of their food in general.

We visited the hotel with a big group and the service was fast, the staff were very friendly and helpful and the food was delicious.

As I browsed the menu, I was surprised to find a separate menu for those with different dietary requirements and equally surprised by the range available to those of us who don't eat meat. The spinach and ricotta ravioli with sundried tomato sauce I ordered came out steaming hot, tasty and in a bowl big enough to feed half the table (thank goodness they offered me a takeaway container for the part I couldn't eat - that was plenty for my next meal too!).

The food was delivered fast and efficiently and judging by the lull in conversation when the food arrived, was enjoyed by everyone.

Children are well taken care of with their own menu and pencils were given to my three year old with instructions he could draw on the paper tablecloth.

Due to the large size of the main meals, no one even glanced at the dessert menu but I'm sure something just as tasty would have tempted us if we had!

If you're looking for a good range of tasty, traditional pub meals, the should definitely be on your list the next time you head to the Yorke Peninsula.
