What could be better for your body than doing Yoga in a park? Relaxing, healthy and beneficial for your mind and body. There are many different exercise fads in today's market but yoga has endured the test of time. It gives physical, mental and spiritual benefits to its students.

Perth Yoga now presents YOGA IN THE PARK every Sunday morning at 9.30 am, at Sir James Mitchell Park, on the South Perth Foreshore.

Perth Yoga is a social yoga group for anyone wanting to learn or re-establish the foundations of their practice.

The yoga classes run for an hour and fifteen minutes and they usually start with pranayama (breathing exercises), move through some easy Hatha, Ashtanga and Vinyasa sequences (yoga flowing with breath) and finish with restorative postures along with shavasana (total relaxation).

Just bring along your yoga mat and join like minded people while watching the Swan River flow past, and overlooking Perth City.

The group gathers and practices yoga together with other people and yoga teachers. In turn, this can help you understand your body and relax your mind that in these busy times, is often racing and chaotic.

These classes are free however donations are welcome and you will be shown a range of yoga practices without having to pay for a term or commit to anything. Newcomers are always welcome.

People of all levels can attend and you will be made to feel comfortable even if you are a beginner. The teachers are qualified and are fully insured and ready with a variety of lesson plans and techniques to warm up your joints and muscles after a hard week's work.

They encourage you to pay attention to your body and to try to refrain from caffeine or food, but they do not hold anyone to any doctrine. They are happy to help you get to know your body in the best way that suits you. It is also a safe place for friends, and/or visitors who don't know people in Perth, and children are welcome as long as they are supervised by a responsible adult.

One of the popular yoga methods you will be shown is a fifteen minute Nidra yoga which is a relaxation therapy, and whilst in these classes, there is NO pressure to perform, no one forcing you to do an exercise that is not comfortable for you and no judgement on the way or indeed IF, you do all the exercises.

At these mornings they facilitate mutual respect for each other and some of the people even hang out together after the exercises.
