Always thought Yo! Sushi sold raw fish and Asian vegetables with rice? Well, think again.

On a unscheduled trip for dinner we were pleasantly surprised with the cuisine on offer. Yo !Sushi have not only incredible sushi that reflects its Japanese heritage, but also hot dishes that are packed with fresh flavours and light seasoning. In addition to the mains are what I like to consider sides: refillable miso soup and green tea, which are both refreshing and delicious.

The food was surprisingly delicious. Very fresh flavours, and not a raw piece of sashimi in sight! Think beautifully presented small dishes, delicate sauces, and light dressings - a heavy dressing would have wrecked the simplicity of the dishes. We ordered a miso soup (much tastier than the stuff you buy in packets and make at home) which had kelp seaweed and tofu chunks. It was earthy in flavour but not overpowering, and small enough to whet the appetite. We also ordered teriyaki chicken, a noodle and chicken dish, and edamame beans.

In terms of service, Yo! Sushi was excellent, with attentive staff who served with a smile, and recommended dishes based on our taste. They cooked our dishes quickly, and called us ma'am - fancy! While the service was quick and efficient, it wasn't very busy. That said, the atmosphere was calm, and relaxed.

I strongly recommend Yo! Sushi because it is excellent value for money. We were very impressed considering the high quality of the food, and the common misconception that it is an overpriced sushi-only bar. Have a look anti-sushi people, it will surprise you.
