Ho hum to socks and jocks. Start a new Father's Day tradition at the YMCA Father's Day Fun Run on 3 September 2017 at Alexandra Gardens - Alexandra Avenue, Melbourne. A family that plays together, stays together, so spend quality time together at Melbourne's newest Father's Day celebration with a 5 or 10 kilometre walk/run around Melbourne's famous Tan running track.
Prices range from $35 (child) to $160 (family). Adult is 18 years and above and child 4-17 years as at 3 Sep 2017. Children 0-3 are free to participate. Additional children can be added to a Family ticket for $15 each. Online registrations close 12pm 1 September, 2017. If you're looking to register after this time, you'll need to arrive early on event day to register in person. Everyone who registers for the YMCA Father's Day Fun Run receives $50 off a pair of Brooks runners at Active Feet!
Register now to take part. Check the website for more details. Participants are staggered for both courses, but everyone starts on Alexandra Avenue (head to the Village, you'll be directed from there!) and finishes in the amazing Alexandra Gardens at the Event Village. An all-inclusive event, anyone of any age and ability, is welcome. The event is wheelchair accessible, and strollers and dogs are welcome.
An all-age event, it starts with a 5 or 10km walk/run around, followed by a Family Event Village with fun things at the best family fun in town that include -
YMCA activities, from gymnastics, to kids games and even tennis
Petting zoos and animals from YMCA camps
Thank you tent for all fundraisers
Bubble soccer and sumo suit wrestling
Plenty of healthy food and drink options
Live entertainment and spot prizes
And plenty more to be confirmed! Head to the website for more information!
Following a hugely successful inaugural year, this year is going to be even better with more on offer for families to enjoy getting active together, so get in there, do the Pram Wave, and give the pooch who is part of the family too, a fun day out.
The YMCA has a long history of supporting families, dads and father figures, with the not-for-profit founding the first Father's Day in the USA in 1910. All funds raised at the YMCA Father's Day Fun Run will go towards YMCA programs that help young people in all aspects of fostering positive mental health and wellbeing.
