Hidden away on the top floor of the Emperor Hotel, one wouldn't expect that this discrete little number would boast the best views in Beijing. We popped out of the lift on the top floor of the hotel and climbed up the wooden stairs to a breathtaking aerial view of the Forbidden City - iconic imperial palace of the Ming Dynasty and abode of the Chinese emperors for 500 years.

The bar itself is situated across different floors and levels and boats a rooftop jacuzzi, should you feel the need to don a bikini.

We enjoyed perusing the extensive drinks menu which includes the in house special Emperor's Martini (sake, vodka, cranberry, lime and peach). Prices are eye watering, but made more bearable by the daily Happy Hour special on two for one drinks at 80RMB. Definitely worth it for a decadent sundowner at the best vantage point in town.
