After a long day's Christmas shopping, my wife and I were in need of a little refreshment. I had heard of a nice little tea shop called 'Yi on Edward'; situated about 5 minutes from Queen Street on the corner of Edward and Margret streets.
Located on the Corner of Edward and Margaret Streets...
I had booked a couple of weeks earlier when we had planned to when to do our Christmas shopping. Unfortunately, the booking hadn't been entered into the diary; this however didn't phase the manager/owner and a table for two was soon found for us. We ordered the 'High Tea' for two.
Service was prompt and a pot of English breakfast tea was soon followed by a three tiered plate bulging with 'nibbles'. The food was as good as it looked; although somewhat on the expensive side at $87 for the two of us - it was tasty and was more than enough for two. Other dishes on the menu are more moderately priced and equally delicious.
The tea rooms were light, clean and airy, the tables nicely spaced and the place had a nice relaxing atmosphere. The service was excellent, with the staff enquiring several times whether everything was satisfactory or whether we need anything further. Above all, they were friendly and courteous.
We would both highly recommend the 'Yi on Edward' as a refuge amongst the Saturday shopping clamour - however one word of warning. It was definitely female orientated in its clientèle, but hopefully this won't deter the liberated modern day male...
After a well earned break, it was back to the Christmas crowds to finish the shopping.
