The Hills Hoist, Victa lawn mower and garden shed were ubiquitous in most Aussie backyards up until the 1990's. Larger houses coupled with smaller blocks have resulted in the humble shed disappearing.

This Aussie icon has been revived. Men's Sheds (another Aussie invention) have been popping up all over the country, and the world, since its origination in 1998.

The is just one of these sheds. It's just like the traditional garden shed but on a larger and more impressive scale. One half of the shed is fully equipped with benches, tools and wood working equipment while a kitchenette and a large table fills the remainder.

The has been running for just over three years and is a community based, non-profit, non–commercial organisation, committed to building mateship, a connection with the community and improving the health and well-being of its members.

The shed buzzes with activity as men create their masterpieces, restore furniture or work together on group projects, such as a cubby house for a Camp Quality raffle. Pens, bowls, vases and tables are just some of the individual creations produced.

Friendships are just as important as the woodworking. Discussions and problem solving take place at the large table over cups of tea and coffee.

All men are welcome. Whilst most of the members at the are retired, young men also attend, learning new skills from the more experienced members. The all-inclusive environment has made a number of men with Alzheimer's welcome as they assist with smaller tasks.

The is a member of the Australian Men's Shed Association, the peak body representing more than 930 Men's Sheds. Located on Kingsley Parade, Yeronga, the Men's Shed is opened on Monday and Wednesday mornings with consideration being given to opening on Saturdays in the coming months. New members are welcome and membership costs $40 per year.

Now is the time to put your hands to work and unleash your creativity!
