Annerley-Stephens History Group and The All Gauge Model Railway Club. The festivities are being held on Sunday 14 July, 2019 at the Yeronga Community Centre, 26 Shottery Street (on the corner of Devon and Shottery Streets), Yeronga commencing at 10.00am and finishing up at 2.00pm. And don't miss the official opening by the local state member, Mark Bailey at 11.00am.
Admission to this fabulous event is completely FREE.
These three wonderful organisations have been allocated space by the Queensland government within Villa Street Yeronga Development site and that is one great reason for a celebration.
Activities by the associations on the day will include:
The Yeronga Community Centre display will start off with a welcoming space for people to gather, connect, contribute and receive assistance if needed. The Centre's staff and volunteers will also be advancing the many activities and projects they offer within the community, including a computer hub, social activities, art and craft groups as well as helping to start interest groups such as Yeronga Community Gardens and ReThink Info Hub Store.
The Annerley-Stephens History Group promotes historical interest in the geographical area that, until its amalgamation into the Brisbane City Council in 1925, was the Stephens Shire Council. Back in the day, the Shire Council's coverage took in what now includes Yeerongpilly, Tennyson, Yeronga, Fairfield, Annerley, Tarragindi, Holland Park West as well as parts of Moorooka and Greenslopes. No doubt there will be a mountain of interesting information and photos about the history and development of your suburb.
Then what's going to be every big and little boy's favourite display is the All Gauge Model Railway Club's variety of model train displays and their kids' train playroom. The Club brings together model railway enthusiasts of all ages and gauges so there will be something here for all ages and interests.
Come along and give the kids something to write when their teachers hand out that perennial assignment on return to school and they have to write about the most interesting part of their holidays.
The Community Centre's community kitchen program will be selling some very delicious food that can be washed down with some equally delicious espresso coffee, tea or other drinks.
