A place to cool off and explore some bush
Yellow Gum Park, located in the Melbourne suburb of Plenty, is a must see destination. The park offers a short bush walk track on gravel, a large picnic area with tables and a barbecue, toilets, Blue Lake, and beautiful views of Plenty river.

The best time to visit is a warm summer's day. As you trek the 2 kilometre round bush walking track, you will come across Blue Lake.

This lake is a quarry that is no longer in use. However, is it now the perfect spot to cool off on a hot day, as it the go to swimming spot for many locals.

The 25 minute trek does have some inclines that make it a little bit harder, but this is rewarded by some great views of Plenty River and wildlife, such as native birds, from a range of vantage points.

Make sure you pack plenty of water, sunscreen, picnic lunch, and maybe even your swimmers to go and enjoy the outdoors for a day. It is well worth it.

It is wonderful that we have such spaces here in Melbourne. It would have been good to see more about the walk and to here something of the history of the lake.
