Have fun beating cancer
Of all the things you can be worried about in life - terrorist attacks, shark attacks, crocodile attacks, Kim Kardashian and Kayne West breeding - few would match cancer.
The statistics are anything but trivial - 1 in 2 Australian will be diagnosed with cancer; an estimated 121,500 new cases will be diagnosed this year alone. And unlike the above four scenarios, there's not a lot you can do to avoid it either.
This is why hundreds of people suit up each year for the Rio Tinto Ride to Conquer Cancer. This 200km ride through the Queensland countryside isn't easy - and neither is participating. To take part, a rider must raise a minimum of $2500, money which goes to the Queensland Institute of Medical Research's efforts into cancer research.
Each rider or team will have their own way of raising funds - and the guys with Yay Team are reprising their biggest fundraiser with their second Trivia Spectacular.
Kindly hosted by the Grand Central Hotel in their Platform Bar on Wednesday February 13, this event pits your trivia skills against some of Brisbane's best and brightest. Thanks to the generosity of a number of donors there will be a number of great prize packs to be won, with all monies raised go to the Rio Tinto Ride to Conquer Cancer. Being the day before Valentine's Day means that you may well be able to win your special someone that special something.
