This Restuarant (or Brasserie), is a quaint location to spend some time enjoying a coffee whilst being surrounded by historic gardens in Weston Park, only 6km from the CBD. In Summer it is a peaceful, shady location to sit outside in the bricked courtyards, and in Winter you can be snug and warm inside the marquee or outside enjoying the many sunny tables.

The Oaks Brasserie is popular with dog walkers with Weston Park nearby, so it has a designated area for people dining with dogs, or without.

Our family have been here a few times after a visit to the playground at Weston Park and a browse around Yarralumla Nursery next door. It has a quaint and relaxed atmosphere with historical charm. Inside the cottage they have a display of delicious cakes to choose from.

Although we have been here for afternoon tea with our daughter Miss Three, and there are other families with children there, it is one of those charming places that you would take your Mum or Grandmother for lunch (in my opinion) or some adult time with your partner or friends. It has a special quaint-ness that is more enjoyed by adults, however kids are more than welcome. There is a limited Kids Menu (2 items only - both over $10 - not for the budget conscious) for lunch and breakfast.

From the positive comments from other diners, and the amount of couples, friends and families coming in for lunch, it is a popular location for local's and tourists alike.

Breakfast prices start from $10.50 for fruit and yoghurt to $23 for the "Recovery Breakfast".
Lunch prices range from $13.50 for Focaccia's, to $23.50 for an open Steak Sandwich.

There are 3 rooms used as Galleries to showcase beautiful works in different mediums. The historical cottage is the perfect location to display artworks, with it's white walls as a backdrop and timber floors - the artworks and their colours are highlighted.
If you love the Gallery, the exhibitions change regularly, so check out their facebook page to see what is coming up next.

In 1913 the property was owned by the government and developed into the Yarralumla Nursery - a place to propagate plants to turn the Canberra into the "Garden City" that we have today. The cottage itself (where you go inside to pay and view the Galleries) was built to house the Nursery Manager and his family. Many of the trees surrounding the Gallery/Brasserie are original plantings from the 1920's. Adjacent to the Brasserie is the heritage listed Old English Gardens, another enjoyable part of this location.

Restored in the 1980's, the "Yarralumla Gallery and Oaks Brasserie" have been in this location since 1997, wanting to bring el fresco dining and art to the historical landmark.

With such a lovely ambience, it isn't surprising that the Oaks Brasserie also hosts weddings and also has musicians come in to play for their patrons.

When visiting Weston Park on the shores of Lake Burley Griffin, ensure you take the fork in the road that leads you up to the plant nursery and the Yarralumla Gallery and Oaks Brasserie - you won't be disappointed.
