Yarra Valley Wine Tours

On the last Saturday of Winter, Melbourne was blessed with a beautiful sunny day - perfect weather for a wine tour! Yarra Valley Wine tours run regular charters for small groups up to 14 people. Pick up is ultra convenient from Flinders Street and you can get dropped back to the same spot. It's pretty early though so strongly advisable not to get too rowdy the night before.

The Mercedes van sets off around 9am and less than an hour later you're in line for the first wine tasting. This stop has about 8 tastings in total, which can be a big ask at 10am in the morning but super fun nonetheless.

Second stop is Chandon, which is simply amazing but you only get 45 minutes here and that's definitely not long enough. With the sun shining there is nothing better than sitting out back on lazy chairs overlooking the vineyards. I highly recommend a follow up visit to Chandon to sip on champers in the sun uninterrupted. By this point it's tempting to abandon the group and stay put but the lure of cheese easily changes that.

3rd stop - Yarra Valley dairy is a great detour and the quality of cheese is exceptional. Their goats cheese varieties are just delicious and very much worth a visit for anyone in the region.

Lunch on this particular trip was scheduled at Rochford but changes every now and then. Rochford is another unbelievable winery with great wines and a first class restaurant. This place is also deserved of a separate trek out to the Yarra Valley and often plays host to a number of events over the summer.

Last stop on the tour is Yering station and again a spectacular range of wines and beautiful views out over the vineyards. The group is allowed a little extra time here to kick back before the long ride home to Melbourne. At just $140 per person including lunch and all wine tastings, this tour with Yarra Valley Wine is worth getting out of bed early for.
