Only 7km from the township of Yarra Glen, lies the Yarra Valley Dairy in Yering. A long narrow road takes you up a gravel path that leads to the farmhouse with its corrugated timber building. This was once the original 100 year old milking shed on the farm, right beside the cheese factory.

Step inside and you enter a world of fresh handmade cheeses and locally produced wines along with some of the best award-winning jams and relishes. I decided to try one of their popular cheese plates accompanied by locally baked fresh sourdoughs.

The cellar door area and ciders and beers come from neighbouring breweries. If you are a sweet tooth, coffee or tea with cakes or ice cream is also available!
