I am a keen traveller. Currently rediscovering my own backyard and the rest of Australia. I enjoy nature, history and the quirkiness of what the world has to offer.

Recently, friends from near and far (we all travelled at least an hour and I travelled to Yarra Glen to meet for High Tea at Yarra Valley Chocolaterie. The High Tea didn't leave us disappointed or hungry.
We were seated at a beautifully set communal table with other people in a room off the main chocolate hall. Name tags were at each setting, so we knew where to sit as a group of five; three of us were seated on one side and the others directly opposite us.
Our group shared food from our own tiered cake stands and my friend with a food allergy was also catered for with one dedicated to him and his partner.
Welcome. Refreshing mocktail.
A mocktail was our welcome drink, no alcohol is served as Yarra Valley Chocolaterie doesn't have a liquor licence, and then a never-ending supply of beverages.
There was hot and cold savoury food as well as sweet treats, including brownies and homemade vanilla ice cream.

The macarons were a surprise as they are normally associated with being a sweet treat but here they were savoury. One was a charcoal macaron with smoked salmon and crème fraiche whilst the other was beetroot with goat's cheese and beetroot relish.

My favourite sweet treat was the macadamia cheesecake - creamy and crunchy. Yummy!
Throughout the High Tea, pastry chefs came and spoke to the guests and explained how they made some of the edible delights. The most labour intensive and time-consuming treat is the pink diamond truffle.

My friend had a hot chocolate which came with liquid chocolate to pour and whisk into the warm milk. I've been reliably informed it was rich and decadent.
The High Tea at Yarra Valley Chocolaterie isn't on every weekend and you need to book and pay in advance. I had to book two months in advance. So you will need to check their website to see when the next one is on. The High Tea is $65 pp and if you don't eat all your share, they happily put your leftovers into a box for you to take home. We all took something home. I re-lived the afternoon for the next few days.
The High Tea starts on time so don't be late. Yarra Valley Chocolaterie & Ice Creamery is at 35 Old Healesville Road, Yarra Glen. Phone (03) 9730 2777.
