I write essays, short stories and political commentary and believe the colour orange is unfairly discriminated against.
Perfectly sized for miniature hippies
The proliferation of McMansions suggests that we humans have a tendency to think that bigger is better.

But that's not always the case.

For example, this would not be better:

Some ugly things are just plain uglier made bigger. Whereas everything is cuter when it's smaller ... well, okay, maybe not flies. But some yukky things look much cuter when they're miniaturised.

Like Adolf Hitler:

Even Adolf was a sweetie once

And traffic:

And things that are already cute threaten to swell your heart out of your ribcage when they're miniaturised.

Like this miniature pig:

And this house:

And while there's nothing quite as majestic as a large, ancient, spreading tree, they still manage to maintain their majesty even when they're been reduced down to a size that makes you want to hug them (probably best to resist, might take your eye out).

Bonsai growing is a bit of an art, and the Yarra Valley Bonsai Society wish to share their knowledge with you at their annual show on Saturday, 17 May 2014 from 10am-4pm.

On display will be a wide range of bonsai, from starters plant all the way up to final display trees. There will be demonstrations and a children's workshop at 11am.

You will of course be able to buy bonsai, along with tools and other accessories if you're wanting to do it yourself.

The Montrose Town Craft Market will also be selling homemade goodies on the same day.
