Yarra Valley Balloon Festival begins Saturday 24th of October
It's a bird.... It's a plane....It's the Yarra Valley Balloon Festival! You can catch it on Saturday 24th and Sunday 25th of October at the Yarra Valley Racecourse.
This is the very first year for the Yarra Valley Balloon Festival and the folks at the Balloon Association of Victoria, in partnership with Yarra Valley Racing, have organized some first rate activities and events for the whole family at Yarra Valley Racecourse. Tickets can be purchased at the gate or at a discounted rate on-line. Details are at

The best part is
entry is free after 5pm for the Night Glow show.
Spread over two days the festival includes:
- Live music
- Free children's entertainment and activities (this includes giant slide, bouncy castles, merry go round, face painting and pony rides, just to name a few)
- Build your own night lanterns for the first 200 children
- Tethered hot air balloon rides for a gold coin donation (Awesome!!!)
- Photo competition via social media (see details below)
- Yarra Valley Cox Plate Day horse racing events(12:30pm – 5:30pm Sat 24th Oct)
- Parachute jump display (by professionals – try the tethered hot air balloon ride if you'd like to get up in the air!)
- Vintage plane fly-by and aerobatics display by the folks from Lillydale Airport
- 15 minutes fireworks show on Saturday night (free entry after 5pm!)

Competitions If you
click here there are two competitions you can enter. One is for the best photo of the balloon flights in the morning. Post them to Instagram with the hashtag #YVBF15. The winner will receive a $500 cash prize.
The other competition is a colouring in competition for the kids. You can download the picture on the above website and could win a $20 Kmart gift card (just in case your daughter needs another Elsa doll).

Cost: $20 if you buy at the gate or $15 if you buy on-line. Free entry after 5pm. Kids under 17 are free.
Parking: Free parking at Yarra Valley Racecourse, though may be limited.
