It is probably not wise to be swimming down the Yarra River at any time of the year (especially since you will be fined $1000 for jumping in), but how about doing it in an inflatable boat, doesn't that sound a bit more desirable? Well Melbourne Water can make this dream come true at the on the 27 February, and they have promised bigger and better things than ever before.



Courtney Carthy the organiser of the event wants to change your perception of the Yarra and appreciate this part of Melbourne by holding this quirky event. The Inflatable Regatta is a 500 participant boat ride that runs between Richmond and Hawthorn on the Yarra River for approximately 2km in distance; organisers have predicted it should take around 2 hours to travel... but you might need to put in a bit of elbow grease and row a little in case the current does not move in your favour.

For anyone who is slightly worried about falling in, don't despair St John's Ambulance will be there and additional assistance to help paddler out of the river, but might I just suggest – avoid drinking the water.



Your choices for the day is to paddle solo in a single boat for $60 or pair up and get a larger inflatable for $110 although it is s snug fit so choose your rowing partner wisely. Your ticket on the day will include the boat, a set of oars, life jackets, sunscreen, water, a waterproof bag for your belongings, a bailer to get any water out of your boat to avoid sinkage and a bag for rubbish in case you have any or see any floating along the river.
