is most appropriately named as it is located in one of the oldest buildings in Warrandyte – a cottage, almost on the banks of the Yarra River.

Old cottages have small rooms and this cottage has many, all crammed with floor to ceiling bookshelves full of books on almost every subject known to mankind.



was established in 1999 and the current owners, Steve and Jo Brazil, took over in 2009.



Steve estimates that there is around 35,000 books in the shop and almost as many in storage.



Many of the books fit into the category of rare, antiquarian and out of print books.

All the shelves are labelled, so it is easy to find books on any specialized interest. A large range of fiction adorn many of the shelves and many children's books were noticed. Childhood memories flooded back when some Enid Blyton books were seen.



I spent about half an hour in the shop, mostly talking to Steve. He didn't seem concerned that I didn't buy anything as he was good for a chat about books and life in general. I had purchased several books on past visits, all on my favourite subject of aircraft.
