I love storytelling in all its forms and recently found an event that celebrates exactly that. Yarn: Stories spun in Brisbane, is a bimonthly event that invites speakers to tell their true stories, live, and, with no notes to rely on. During the last event, six hilarious and often moving stories were told on the theme of In Transit: Stories of going nowhere. They ranged from unemployment and poverty in the creative industry, to falling in love (with celebrities and non-celebrities).

The breaks in between the stories gave the audience time to reflect and chat to friends. The last event was held at Dowse bar, a cosy establishment that enhanced the intimate vibe of the evening. However, make sure to get there early to get a seat or you'll end up standing the whole night, as I did.
