Yarn Bombing at Eastland Shopping Centre

Eastland Shopping Centre in Ringwood is set to receive a retro makeover, as yarn bombers will be weaving up a storm in an amazing installation.

Eastland's Centre Court will be transformed into The Eastland Park, displaying a colourful collection of knitting and crochet techniques, put together by a group of urban knitters from the community.



In another partnership between the Eastland Shopping Centre and the local community, The Eastland Park is a combined project with knitters from Domain Gracedale, Waldtreas Village Aged Care Facility, Wyreena Arts Centre, BUPA Aged Care Croyden and The Yarn Corner.
"We are very excited to be bringing you the first yarn bombed project within a Shopping Centre environment. Not only will it allow our shoppers to see the amazing art of knitting, it will provide an avenue to support our local community and showcase their talent, particularly our elderly" commented Dana Salim, Marketing Manager, Eastland.

The Eastland Park will not only showcase the bright-coloured talent of local knitters, but encourage the art by offering a number of low cost workshops for young and old. Children will be able to participate in yarn kite making and loom band workshops ($2), plus there will be beginner crochet workshops as well as 30 minute infinity scarf workshops for adults ($5).

Visit The Eastland Park from 19 May – 15 June as Ringwood's popular shopping centre will be transformed into a woven sea of colour, brightening Melbourne's otherwise cold and wintry grey days.
