If you enjoy going to the regular Yandina markets on a Saturday morning, you may be pleased to know that a new local artisans and organic market has recently commenced operating inside the Yandina-Eumundi RSL Hall at 24 North St Yandina on Saturdays between 7am - noon.

Walking inside the building, one immediately feels a calm and harmonious ambience. The space itself is not large which adds to that cosy feeling. Some stallholders are busy talking to people browsing their wares. Others are not that interested in talking. One stallholder is busy knitting. I am busy looking around and taking photographs whilst keeping an eye on my three kids.

All the items for sale are unique handmade creations. Today there are some interesting items on display including gorgeous decorated denim clothing; this stall was a highlight for me. As I walk further on I see incense burning profusely. I am not a big fan of incense and would much prefer to listen to some new age music. As I make my way to the exit, I notice a drawing table asking visitors to share a drawing using crayons.

It is obvious that much thought and love has gone into making this market a reality. With the right mix of artists, the has the potential to be another Yandina 'must do' activity. By focussing on selling original handmade creations, the Grass Roots market definitely achieves its aim of complimenting the main Yandina markets and kind of reminds me of Eumundi markets, but in miniature.
