I'm glad that I did, because the surrounds and scenery of Yan Yean Reservoir Park was refreshingly different, and provided a pleasant surprise.
The car park area is very spacious. A little bridge leads you across a sadly empty waterway, to the luscious greenery and shelters. This would be a great place for a picnic or a relaxing day in the sun.
This day wasn't specifically sunny, but the park was still beautiful. As you can see above, there's a clearly laid out path that you can take to walk around the park. It's only about two kilometres, so a good length for a dog walk and not too tiring.
On a normal day, dogs are permitted in the park however all rubbish must be taken home with you, so don't forget to clean up after your pup.
Conveniently, there are toilet facilities and even a little playground if you would like to take your kids for a day out too. In addition to this there are BBQ facilities. For a full map plus facilities, click here.
It's a great place to admire the reservoir views that you will reach about midway during your walk along the path. The mountains give the landscape a lovely shape, whilst the reservoir glistens no matter if there is sunny or foggy weather.
