Indulge in all things barbecued at the second ever
Yak Ales Melbourne Barbecue Festival .
The
main event will be held on Saturday the 6th of February, with a cook-off being the star attraction of the day. While registration for the competition is now closed, watching the teams battle to be the best at barbecuing is sure to be exciting. The all-day event includes expert cooking demonstrations, stalls showcasing the latest in barbecue technology, and more barbecue food stalls than you thought possible. Live entertainment and DJs will give the event atmosphere.
Tickets to the Saturday event at Flemington Racecourse are currently up to the third release, costing $25 per person. There is no entry fee for children under 16 if attending with an adult.

Barbecue Street Food Festival at Queen Vic
Date: Sunday 31 January
Kick off the meaty celebrations with the
Barbecue Street Food Festival , hosted at the Queen Victoria Market. The festival boasts cooking demonstrations, live entertainment, and, of course, a variety of barbecue themed food stalls. Entry is free.
Certified Barbecue Judging Class
Date: Thursday 4 February
Study up for an illustrious career as a barbecue judge. Barbecuing is serious business, as this four hour Barbecue Judging Class will show. You will be able to give the barbecuer in your life a grilling, as you learn how to expertly grade different barbecued meats. Participants will be accredited by the
Kansas City Barbeque Society , meaning you will be able to sign up to be a judge at their barbecuing competitions around the world. One lucky participant will win a seat at the Melbourne Barbecue Festival judging table.
Becoming a certified barbecue judge does not come cheap, with the class costing $144 per person.
Barbecue Festival Dinner
Date: Thursday 4 February
Indulge in a four-course barbecue dinner with beer and wine at the
Barbecue Festival Dinner . Hosted at
Fancy Hank's BBQ Joint in the city, the menu will be masterminded by an award winning barbecue chef in collaboration with the head chef at Hank's. Tickets to the festival dinner cost $95 per person.
Jim Johnson's Pit Master BBQ Class
Date: Friday 5 February
Cook up a storm with barbecue virtuoso Jim Johnson in his four hour
Pit Master BBQ Class . The class will be particularly instructive to those seeking to barbecue competitively.
Tickets to the class cost $179 per person.
