Escape for some fun down south
XScape at the Cape is located close to Dunsborough on Caves Road and has a variety of attractions guaranteed to wear out the most energetic of kids (trust me I know!).
We've visited in both summer and winter, and although the water park section is not open in winter we still found plenty to do. We've found in winter we just spend more time on the other attractions like mini golf and tiki mountain, and less on these when the water park is open. There are plenty of trees for summer shade, which is a fantastic feature. In winter you may want to rug up (unless you are running around) as the under-cover play areas can get chilly.
One thing I am very impressed with is the food, it's actually nice and reasonably priced… a revelation for a fun park. There's Yahava coffee for the adults, a great range of lunches and snacks for all, as well as ice cream. We love the lunch packs for kids which come with a sandwich, juice, fruit bar, sultanas and more, for under $10.
Now to the attractions. There's mini golf with some unusual twists, a maze, trampolines, an undercover bouncy castle and climbing area, a mini loop train and the jungle mountain climbing frame. There is also a small fenced off area for little ones right
next to the café and water park, which is very handy if you are organising meals or just want to sit and relax. In summer the H2O area features a huge inflatable water slide and a water park.
There isn't as much on offer for the under three year olds other than a ride on the mini train and the little ones play area. They may tire of this if you are staying for a while as it isn't particularly large. If they are young enough to still nap in the pram, you might like to time your visit during this so you can stay longer! On the plus side they enter free. If your other children are under eight and not quite ready to go off unsupervised it would be very handy to have another adult on hand.
The mini golf is a great activity to do with the whole family, as is the maze once they are older. For the most enjoyable day, I'd recommend the other activities for confident children from five onwards.
The combo deals are good value as you could easily spend most of the day here. However, a great option if you don't have that much time or money is to purchase tickets for one attraction. You could come and play a round of mini golf for example, or even pay $10 to have unlimited time climbing jungle mountain.
This place has won me over and has become a regular stop when we travel in the area. It's got the features you need for a fun day out with the kids, yet retains that relaxed down-south vibe.
